Munoz, Tapia in Vegas

“Hurricane” Hector Munoz and five-time world champ Johnny Tapia have hit Las Vegas. On Saturday, Munoz, 19-4-1, 12 KOs, takes on undefeated Yoshihiro Kamegai (18-0, 16 KOs) on the Top Rank-promoted card headlining Rafael Marquez vs. Toshiaki Noshioka. El Paso boxer dies in car crash

Former light-heavyweight and cruiserweight boxer Francisco Stevens passed away Saturday afternoon in his hometown of El Paso. The 47-year-old Stevens lost control of his vehicle and, after slamming into two other cars, died on scene. Stevens, 2-5, 2 Kos, last fought in 2004 when he was KO’d by Gustavo Enriquez.
