Alberto Leon moves on to WBC
The World Boxing Council (WBC) has appointed former New Mexico Athletic Commission Chairman Alberto Leon to their Legal Committee and named a WBC Supervisor. Leon’s first job was the Nov. 5 WBC super welterweight semi-final elimination fight between James Kirkland and Alfredo Angulo in Cancun, Mexico, which was the headline fight on HBO’s Boxing After Dark. Next up for Leon: He will be supervising the final WBC Super Middleweight final elimination fight between Anthony Dirrell and Renan St. Juste on December 2nd, 2011, at the Chumash Resort & Casino in Santa Ynez, California. The fight will be shown live in Showtime’s Showbox.
