In the main event of an Airtight Boxing card in Sheridan, Colo., for the vacant WBC super lightweight Latino title, Denver’s Manny Perez squared off with Albuquerque’s Randy “Savage” Arrellin. Perez built an early lead by using superior boxing skills while Arrelin looked to land with one punch. Arellin had success in the fourth round as he was able to land sharp body shots on Perez. Perez rebounded in the fourth as he was able to outhustle Arrellin by using a much higher work rate. Perez turned aggreessor in the fifth and bloodied the nose of Arrellin by continuing his body-head attack. The sixth roud was an action packed round that had the crowd on its feet. Perez hurt Arrellin early but Arrellin rallied late. In a sudden and surprising ending, Arellin’s corner stopped the fight on account of a hand injury sustained by their fighter. The pro-Perez crowd errupted as Perez was announced the winner, with the official TKO stoppage being :01 into the eighth round. - Bill Green, Fightnews.com
