“Battle of the Badges” on Aug. 21
Isidro Castillo and the School of Hard Knocks have set up an amateur card, billed as “Battle of the Badges,” for August 21 in Hobbs, N.M. The show will be a fundraiser to raise money for the Hard Knocks amateur boxing program; more importantly some of the proceeds will go to help a seven-month old baby named Cutter Davis, of Monument, N.M., 12-15 miles from Hobbs. Cutter was born with a tumor in his spinal area.
Originally, a pro card had been set up by Hard Knocks, to take place in Clovis on Aug. 21. That show has since been moved to Oct. 2. In order to not let the date go to waste, Hard Knocks wanted to put on a local celebrity-type boxing event featuring police officers, fire fighters, service men & correction officers. They will fight three one-minute rounds, wearing 18 oz gloves. The card will take place at the local Teen Center in Hobbs.
