Bloodsport is back in El Paso
BloodSport Championship are back with a new date from a January show that was nixed last minute. Promoter Marc Stelley says that he’d been forced to pull the plug after several fighters fell off the line-up for not getting their licenses and medicals done on time. “When the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation pulled several fights, the smartest thing to do was pull the plug and reschedule,” says Stelley.
Having regrouped, the new date is March 25 – a date that is also being looked at by Golden Boy for a card headlining Antonio Escalante’s comeback. That card, says the Texas commission, is not yet official.
The March 25 card is a hybrid pro boxing/MMA card, with three boxing matches. In the main event, light welterweight Molly McConnell (10-2, 5 KOs) will take on Kita Watkins (6-7, 1 KO) for two minor belts in a ten-rounder. Two more boxing bouts have Albuquerque’s Tonia Cravens (2-5-1, 1 KO) taking on Ashley Alvarado (2-0, 2 KO) in a sixer; and Wesley Marquez (0-1) vs. Gabriel Cruz (3-3-1, 1 KO), in a four-rounder. Four MMA bouts will round off the card. The card takes place at the Marriott Hotel Grand Ballroom at 7 p.m. For more info, visit www.bloodsportchampionships.com
