Weigh-ins for Friday night’s show at Tingley are at 2 p.m. today at the Downs’ Jockey Club, third floor. If you can’t make it, log on later this afternoon for the usual weigh-in report on NewMexicoBoxing.
To answer the many emails received on the March 6 Johnny Tapia card: No, the card will NOT be regulated by the New Mexico State Athletic Commission. Apparently, the San Juan Pueblo will put together their own athletic commission to regulate the card.
Looks like N.M. will finally get enough boxing action this weekend. In addition to Friday night’s big card at Tingley, two amateur shows are set to go on Saturday. If you’re in Albuquerque, check out the Rosales smoker. If you’re in the southern half of the state, the “Rumble in the Mountains” USA Boxing card in Ruidoso will be worth the travel. The postponed “Noche de Campeons” USA Boxing card originally slated for Jan. 23 has a new date of Feb. 13. More details will be posted on Monday, after this weekend’s fight action.
