Boxing judge Levi Martinez is ending the year in style, officiating at no less than four world title matches in three weeks. On the 11th, Levi worked the Cristian Mijares vs. Alberto Rosas title fight in Torreon, Mexico. On the 18th, he was in Campeche, Mexico, working the Ramon Garcia vs Omar Soto title fight. On Dec. 26, he’ll be in Tokyo, Japan, working two bouts: the Daiki Kameda vs Silvio Olteanu fight and Koki Kameda vs Alexander Munoz bout. In 2010, Martinez will have racked up a dozen world title fights throughout the year.
Fighter-turn-promoter Rene Armijo of El Paso is looking for MMA fighters to fill a card on Saturday, Jan. 29 at the El Paso Convention Center, downtown El Paso. Cage fighters looking for action can get a hold of Rene at 915.833.2639 or by email.
The Jan. 8 card in Greeley, Colo. has the following line-up: Leo Santa Cruz (California) vs Felipe Cordova (Texas); Raul Carrillo (Longmont) vs Joel Vargas (Kansas); Robert Rodriguez (Greeley) vs TBA; Ryan Grimaldo (Ft. Collins) vs Noel Esqueda (Kansas); Enrique Carmona(Denver) vs TBA; and Carlos Marquez( Longmont) vs TBA. It’s also possible that Denver’s Mike Alvarado will be the main event.
No official word yet for Austin Trout’s looonnnnng-awaited title shot. Word is, Jan. 29 is the date but nothing set yet.
