Burke’s Blog: Trout back in Cruces
Burke’s Blog by Louie Burke
Sweet home, Las Cruces! We arrived in Cruces at 12:00 a.m., again a full day of travel, but this time, no bags were lost. It was much easier coming home after a win and not having to make weight. The only set-back was I got sick with the flu, but the win made me feel better than any medication could have.
The fight went the distance. Garnett not only was a hard egg to crack but had a hard egg of a head. Austin will be the first to admit he wasn’t up to par until about the fifth round. We feel the long trip up, and Garnett being a southpaw, threw Austin off for a few rounds. Austin started getting a bead on Garnett in the fifth, when he started landing combinations and dictating the pace with his jab.
This pretty much was the story throughout the rest of the fight. Austin won a well deserved, hard fought unanimous decision.
