Enriquez faces Richards
Las Cruces cruiserweight and former Mexican light-heavy champ Gustavo “La Parka” Enriquez (15-8, 12 KOs) takes on Adam “The Swamp Donkey” Richards (21-2, 14 KOs) tonight at Fitzgerald’s Casino & Hotel in Tunica, Miss., in a scheduled eight-rounder. Depending on what happens tonight, Enriquez may be open for a future fight with Albuquerque’s “Mad” Mike Alderete. Trainer Louie Burke says negotiations for Enriquez vs. Alderete began in early March but were never completed due to a disagreement over the purse. Burke hopes that the fight can be made if money is offered.
Also, Burke notifies NewMexicoBoxing that Albert Howell will not be fighting Michael Brooks in the June 6 card. Howell goes in for corrective eye surgery in two weeks and will be unavailable for June 6. On the subject for Las Cruces fighters, Burke is having an impossible time finding a fight for Abie Han. Any takers out there?
