Escalante at critical stage

On Aug. 6 at the Don Haskins Center, Antonio Escalante faces his biggest challenge to date for a variety of reasons.

For one, he’ll be facing a veteran in Edel Ruiz who owns 25 knockouts among his 34 wins and Escalante is fighting just his third fight where he’ll weigh 126 pounds or higher.

Also, Escalante will be fighting for the first time under the tutelage of trainer Louie Burke. Burke is a veteran trainer, who will lend Escalante his knowledge of the sport and help the 25-year-old fighter a foundation of boxing fundamentals. . . . Click here for more
