Showing more guts than skill, fraternities and sororities got it on last night at UNM’s Johnson Gym for a good cause. “Sigma Chi Fight Night” was put on to benefit the Susan G. Komen Foundation which helps raise money to fight breast cancer. After a night of wild punches in bunches and a roaring college crowd of around 750, a check of $11,000 was handed over to the local Susan G. Komen affiliate. Justin Case from 97.7 OMG Radio served as the announcer for the event.

The young men and women fought in a USA Boxing sanctioned event. They fought three-two minute rounds. The show included ring card girls and fighters all walked in separately coming out to their chosen songs. All boxers trained for three months at local boxing and MMA gyms. After 12 bouts, the men of FIJI (Phi Gamma Delta) took home the team trophy for most wins of the night. This was the first year that an event of this kind has occurred in New Mexico and the local Sigma Chi fraternity said it will now become an annual affair. Check out the results and photos below (coming later).
