Gab from Galle and Guereca
The training camp of Lucas “The Ghost” Galle sends on their thanks to Abie Han‘s team in Las Cruces, but a Han-Galle fight, at least for Saturday night, is a no-go. They will consider the match, however, at 154 (not 168) and for more money. Trainer Bernie Sanchez says Galle took this fight as a fill-in, for a minimal purse.
Bernardo Guereca, formerly of El Paso and now training in Albuquerque, would like to pass it on that he is willing to take on any local state welters. Guereca last held the “official” New Mexico state belt by beating Hector Munoz back in 2004. Guereca is preparing for Joe Gomez, Nov. 6 in Garden City, Ks., but will be ready and willing upon his return.
The unofficial state welter championship, by the way, is up for grabs Saturday night at Sky City Casino in Acoma, when Vincent Mirabal and Freddy Cisneros clash in the main event on the Mirabal bill.
