Garvin, Cisneros return to the ring
Two New Mexico pro boxing females are doing a come back this week, in different parts of the country. On May 7, at the Crown Plaza Hotel in Tulsa, Okla., on a private, fund-raising black-tie card promoted by Tony Holdin, Albuquerque flyweight Rozanna Garvin (0-1) will take on 115-pound debuter Brittany Harvison in a four-rounder. Garvin last fought in March 2007, losing a decision to Sonya Gurule. This will be Garvin’s first fight in two years.
Then, on May 9 in South Philadelphia, Pa., Albuquerque’s Victoria Cisneros (3-6-2) will hit the comeback trail after 2 1/2 years. Cisneros will be facing Olivia Fonseca (2-2-2), of Philadelphia. Cisneros now under trainer Manuel Anaya, and has been in training for a year. Victoria is hoping to fight in New Mexico again soon as almost all her fights have been out of state. –Robert Padilla
