Results of the second night of action at the 62nd annual New Mexico State Golden Gloves Tourney in Clovis:

In the first bout of the evening, 123 lbs., open division, Leonardo Sanchez from Atrisco win on a TKO over Leo Valencia from Henry’s G.G. Sanchez advances to the finals. Also at 123, open, Ronny Perez of Martinez won a decision over Eric Gonzales of Albuquerqu PAL. Perez will meet Leonardo Sanchez in the finals on Sunday.

In show bouts: At a 102-pounds, Luis Gonzales from Bad Boys, decisioned Angelo Valencia of Henry’s G.G. In another show bout, this one at 110 lbs., Andrian Marquez, of Alderete Boxing Club, decisioned Manuel DeLeon of the Bad Boys Boxing Club. At a 125-pound show bout, Brandon Martinez decisioned Joseph Alderete from Henry’s G.G. In one of the most exiting 120lb. show bouts of the night, Brittany Haley lost a decision to Ayanna Vasquez of the L.C. PAL. At 114, Javier Cepeda of Roswell, decisioned Ruben Parraz, Clovis. At 130 lbs., Miguel Munoz, School of Hard Knocks, stopped Robert Lopez, Henry’s G.G. in the 2nd round.

At 132, open: Hector Carrette L.C. PAL, decisioned William Griego of Socorro; Yoel Gonzales ABC, decisioned Jesus Holguin from Albuquerque PAL. Gonzales will meet Carrette for the crown on Sunday.

At 165 lbs., open, 6’3″ Josh Moore, independent, gave Michael Herrera, Team Roswell, all he could handle. Referee stopped the contest in the 3rd round. In the final bout of the evening, Timothy Meek of L.C. PAL won a decision over Charles Alderete of Alderete Boxing. Meek and Moore will meet on Sunday for the 165 lb. open crown.

The 62nd New Mexico State Golden Gloves Tournament will resume and end on Sunday. First bell is at 1 p.m.  All open class champions will advance to the regional competition against Denver in Denver, on April 10th. Winners in Denver will compete at the National Golden Gloves Tournament in Littlerock, Ark.
