Hernandez-Cisneros a no go; Hernandez on suspension

Posted on 15 December 2009   News flash

The previously announced possible fight between Melissa Hernandez and Victoria Cisneros is not only a no-go, but an impossibility, as Hernandez has been indefinitely suspended by the Isleta Athletic Commission. Furthermore, the suspension is being honored by ABC honoring commissions across the country. Brian Cohen, manager of Hernandez, says that a Dec. 26 fight is news to him. “We’ve talked about fighting Cisneros,” says Cohen, “but there is nothing set. We’re trying to deal with the suspension issue first.” Cohen feels the suspension is unfair and too vague – especially coming from a commission he feels broke so many rules on Dec. 4.

As for Cisneros, Cohen says, “Once Melissa is off suspension, we’d definitely like to make Cisneros her first fight. We’d like her to give her time to get into her best shape first. Then we want to show the world world what a real fighter would do to her. Melissa is in a different class than Holly is.”
