“New Blood” updates

The amateur portion of the May 16 “New Blood” card, promoted by Mirabal Boxing & the Isleta Boxing Club, at Isleta Resort & Casino, is filling up fast. As of now, 20 bouts have been pre-matched. A couple more bouts are expected to be filled.

Welterweight Ben Acosta is expected to make a pro debut on the card. Any takers out there for Acosta, contact Richard Mirabal. 

The press conference and weigh-in  for the event will be at 2 p.m. next Friday, at Isleta. Pre-fight physicals will follow. 

The full card is as follows: In the six-round main, Vincent Mirabal (2-0) will take on Daniel Gonzales (2-4), both of Albuquerque. The co-main is a four-rounder between Albuquerque middleweights Carlos Sanchez (2-0) and Alfred Salinas (2-6-1). Three four-rounders precede: Freddie Sisneros (1-0) vs. Antonio Ortiz (1-2) at welterweight; Jessica Sanchez will debut at 130 lbs., against Clara de la Torre (1-6); and Ben Acosta debuts at welter, vs. TBA.
