Omega update on Shabazz

Siju Shabazz racked up another win Wednesday night against heavyweight Javonta Charles of Collierville, Tenn. Javonta, a southpaw, was noticably taller and bigger than the leaner Shabazz, but watching the action from ringside you, would have to say that Siju was the stronger of the two, or he that he just had the bigger heart. Either way, many that were present had to agree this fight had to be the fight of the night.
Javonta came out firing straight lefts at Shabazz, while Siju pressured his opponent, keeping him on the ropes. At the end of the first, Siju was behind on points. In the second round, Siju continued his attack and started finding a home for his left hook to the head of Javonta. The way the scores were showing, both Javonta and Siju were trading places, going back and forth as to who, was winning the round; it was an indication of how much both pugilists wanted the victory.
The third and final round was more of the same action-packed fighting the crowd saw from the get-go, neither warrior willing to back away. Siju started taking control towards the end of the as Javonta began to tire. Then there was a sudden break in the action as the fight had to be stopped for several minutes due to the top rope of the ring coming undone. The much needed rest Javonta got from those few minutes seemed to revive him, as he came out firing straight one-twos catching Siju a couple of times, and again the scores went back and forth. The tremendous heart. and awesome shape Siju had, surpassed the efforts of his game opponent. At the final bell Siju had done more than enough to receieve the win by a score of 21-20.
This evening Siju will face Pernell Mitchell in the semifinals.
Also of Omega Fight Team Natalie Martinez go up against Marina Ramirez. The winner of the fight will move on to the championship fight Saturday afternoon.
