Ortiz, Chavez, lose in Arizona
Antonio Ortiz (2-3-1, 2 KOs), of Albuquerque, was KO’d Saturday night in Mesa, Ariz., by Chase Corbin (2-0, 2 KOs), of Arizona. On the same card, Julio Chavez (6-4-1, 2 KOs), of Albuquerque, staged a return to the ring after three years, but lost a decision to Eddie Brooks (9-3) in a six-rounder.
Looks like the Jan. 29 showdown between Vincent Mirabal (4-0, 1 KO) and Ortiz is now off. A replacement is being sought for Mirabal. Ortiz pulled out on Monday.
