Friday night San Felipe’s Casino Hollywood was host to the first ever American Indian MMA Championships promoted by Valcomm Promotions out of Albuquerque. Fighters from Texas, New Mexico and Arizona were present. Although the crowd was somewhat sparse, the punches and flying kicks were not. There is already a second show in the works in Arizona.  The results:

In the main event of the evening Fort Worth’s Coda Yazzie (Texas MMA Academy) picked apart Jackson MMA fighter Justin Six Killer. Six Killer did not come out for the third and final round due to the damage caused by Yazzie.  Yazzie took the win by retirement. Angelo James (Blackwater MMA) made short work of Will Hamilton (Independent) locking in a triangle and forcing Hamilton to tap out at 1:28 of the first. In a battle of the big boys, Byron Bicenti (Independent) outhustled Jeremiah Yazzie (Blackwater MMA) and pulled off the unanimous decision win against a much heavier Yazzie in a heavyweight bout. Terrin Yazzie (Blackwater MMA) won by tap out at 0:27 of the second round after Ty Tecumseh (Independent) slapped the mat a few times after getting caught in a rear naked choke hold in a 180 lb bout. Aaron Sleeper (Independent) was close to being put to sleep himself as he tapped out at 1:15 of the second round after Richard Bicenti (Independent) locked in a rear naked choke hold. Seth Abeita (Jacksons) pounded away from atop and stopped Victor Maseyesva (Independent) by strikes at 1:37 of the second round in a 155 lb bout. In another pounding, Jermaine Tisi (Blackwater MMA) won by strikes at 0:50 seconds of the second round against Bryton Thomas (Independent) at 160 lbs. Jerald Tsosie (Blackwater MMA) started off the night by winning by tap out in 2:09 of the second round against Virgil Begay (Jacksons) after locking in a rear naked choke hold in a 145 lb battle.
