From the “New Blood” card at the Isleta Resort & Casino promoted by Mirabal Boxing and the Isleta Boxing Club: In the main event, Vincent “Li’l Man” Mirabal (3-0), of Albuquerque weathered a second round knockdown to outbox Daniel “Latin Heat” Gonzales (2-5), of Albuquerque through six heated rounds. Mirabal scored a first round knockdown and used his superior footwork – and big right hand – to dominate the gutsy, always-game Gonzales. Scores were 58-54 twice and 59-55. On the undercard: In a four-round welterweight bout, Antonio Ortiz (1-2-1) and Freddy Cisneros (1-0-1) fought a high-action draw, scores of 38-38 twice and 39-37 Ortiz. In the opener, debuting Jessica Sanchez (0-0-1), of Albuquerque, and Clare de la Torre (1-6-1), of Santa Fe, fought a majority draw, with 38-38 twice and 39-37 Sanchez. A four-round female fight between Thaddine Swift-Eagle Johnson (4-0, 4 KOs) and late, late sub Sandy Valdez, of Durango, Colo., was nixed last minute, Aragon pulling a no-show despite weighing in last night. As filler, an exhibition bout between retired veteran Rudy “Bad Boy” Lovato and Carlos Sanchez was pulled off.
