GARCIA KAYOS GOMEZ
From the Sky Ute Casino in Ignacio, Colo.: In the main event of a long-awaited showdown, before a soldout crowd, Elco “The Animal” Garcia (21-7, 10 KOs) floored Joe Gomez (16-2-1, 8 KOs) five times en route to a TKO win at 1:29 of the seventh round. Gomez tried to slug it out with Garcia, but was floored twice in the second, twice in the fifth, and once in the seventh before his corner threw in the towel.
In the four-round co-main, Victor Filerio (2-0, 1 KO) needed just 1:59 to stop overmatched Justin Hendrick (1-3), of Kearney, Nebr. In an eight-rounder, Rio Rancho’s Lucas “The Ghost” Galle (5-4) was outclassed through eight rounds by Abel Perry (10-3, 3 KOs), of Colorado Springs. Galle’s nose was busted up early and the flow of blood speckled ringsiders. Big rights by Perry won him a no-brainer unanimous decision of 80-72 and 79-73 twice. In a four-round bout, Vincent Mirabal (2-0) barely won his second fight with a split verdict over late sub Pedro Davila (1-4). Mirabal won rounds one, three and four but was floored in the late second, barely making the count on shaky legs. Scores were 39-37, 38-37 and 37-38. In the opening round, LeShaun Blair (4-17) ended an 11-bout losing streak with a unanimous decision over Javier Segura (4-16, 4 KOs), who’s now lost seven straight. Scores were 39-37 x 3.
