State Golden Gloves set for March 26-28

The 62nd New Mexico State Golden Gloves Tournament is scheduled for March 26, 27 and 28 March. Tournament will be held at the Roy Walker Community Center in Clovis, N.M.  Everyone is invited. The tournament chairman is Chuck Haas. He can be reached at 575-763-7561. All boxers must be ready and available to fight on Friday if  necessary. We may hold some show bouts or pre-matches over until Saturday. You are allowed to enter more than one boxer in a weight division. No seating in the brackets! Blind draw system will be used.

Boxers must be registered with USA Boxing prior to arriving in Clovis. No registrations at the tournament. For registration information contact Bernie Sanchez at 505-991-6263. Invited; 13 and 14 year olds and 15, 16 year olds. 17 and up will compete in the advanced category/open division of the Golden Gloves. Boxers over 21 years of age must go open regardless of his experience or number of fights he has. Senior boxers over age 34 can compete if we can match them.

This is a non-advancing tournament for females. Championship belts will be awarded to the open class male winners.

Tournament regulation; three (3) three (3) minute rounds in the finals on Sunday afternoon. No exhibitions bouts on Sunday. This will allow tournament officials to go home early. The regional tournament in Denver will begin April 10 and the nationals in Littlerock, Arkansas. No dates available.

March 26: 9.a.m. to 12 noon, weigh-ins, followed by match-ups. Physicals at 5:30. First bout at 7,

March 27: 8 a.m. weigh-ins, physicals at 5:30.

March 28: 8 a.m. weigh-ins, physicals at 5.
