Tapia-Archuleta III postponed
Just in: The June 12 Johnny Tapia vs. Frankie Archuleta III card at the Ohkay Casino near Espanola, N.M. has been cancelled. According to matchmaker Robert Padilla, it is less of a cancellation and more of a postponement, and that the new date - sometime in July – will involve some sort of title.
According to trainer Manuel Anaya, who is training Archuleta, it appears that his team – and fighter – were the last to know. “Frankie is right on target and sparring ten rounds,” says Anaya. “He has nearly peaked already and is in the best shape of his life. If this fight does not happen, it will be a complete bummer for Frankie and for New Mexico.”
