Team Tapia: Show will go on

Team Tapia is assuring local fight fans that the June 4 show is a still a definite go. Six pro bouts and six amateur are slated for the Hard Rock card. As of noon, an opponent for Johnny Tapia has been whittled down to three choices. “We’ll have a definite opponent by the end of today,” says promoter Julian Jiron of Team Tapia. “We just want to make sure the guy we get for Johnny will be a quality fighter.”

Besides the previously mentioned Hector Munoz vs. Jorge Reyes co-main, four more pro bouts have been secured. Unbeaten Albuquerque welterweight Vincent “Li’l Man” Mirabal (8-0, 1 KO) will go four in yet another gimme fight against unwon Arizonan Eric Bradford (0-6); welterweight Josh “Pitbull” Torres (5-1-2, 3 KOs) takes on unbeaten former Olympian Janks Trotter (4-0-1, 4 KOs); In a battle of cage fighters, Rocky Ramirez will turn pro as a boxer against Eric Savedra (0-1); and a four-round girl fight is in the final stages of completion.
