Title fight in the works
If final negotiations are concluded, New Mexico just might get a title shot on Aug. 28. Top contender Austin Trout (21-0, 13 KOs), of Las Cruces, who’s been on the shelf since last September, will finally get his chance at the WBA 154-pound Interim Champ Nobuhiro Ishida (22-5-2, 7 KOs), of Japan, if things are finalized. The fight will take place in Albuquerque, venue TBA. The holder of the interim belt will be the mandatory for WBA Light Middleweight Champ Miguel Cotto. Stay tuned!
