Villanueva, Montoya demolished in MS
Last night at the Fitz in Tunica, Mississippi: Albuquerque’s Willie Villanueva (9-3, 2 KOs) was knocked out at 2:56 of the first round by undefeated Gary Russell, Jr. (12-0, 9 KOs). Villanueva was floored three times by body shots before a right hand put him out on his feet near the end of the round.
On the undercard, Dominic Wade (9-0, 6 KOs) took out Freddie Montoya (3-2, 2 KOs) at 2:32 of the second round. Montoya was down in the first and finished in the second.
